On a Sunday afternoon, after a late, heavy lunch, a husband was lying semi dozed off in the wife’s lovely arms. He knew he was walking on a narrow bridge laid over the depth of abysmal sleep. And he was enjoying his own slipping steps.
His wife, in her usual husky voice told him, "Dear, life..na...it’s gud...!" she was resonating a statement which he usually makes to her when he is happy - "Life is goooooddd" He looked at her and smiled. He understood that she is thinking something deep, with the curious face of a young school girl. Suddenly she asked "what really is life….?" There was an innocent puzzled look in her eyes. Which made him amused, coz he knows that deep philosophical thought was never her cup of tea. But by now, he was completely awaken by her question...it had made him slip into his own thoughts and interpretations. After a moment of silence, he told her "Dear… life really happens in our mind" Telling this, he looked at her. She asked, "Really...?" Seeing her raised eye brows, widened eyes, and slightly open mouth he easily concluded - She isn't convinced. It’s time for him to bring all the articulation abilities of his into action. Then he decided to tell her the following story:
There were three people in a room. One person in all good health just done with a sumptuous meal and who is about to doze off. The second one who had been starving for 3 days, without even getting a drop of water to drink. The third one, a critical rabies patient, who has developed a high degree of hydrophobia.
What will happen if one glass of water is given to each one of them? Life, being even to them at that moment. We shall consider a few minutes in their life which they live in that room with the glass of water in hand. The first one naturally would be passive to it. He won’t care if the glass is given to him or not. He doesn’t even need it. The second one definitely will say that the person who gave him water is god himself. He may empty the glass in less than a second. The moment he holds the glass in his hand will be nothing less than a rebirth to him. The third one indeed will become wild on seeing that glass of water. He may even try to jump out of the window to escape the sight of the liquid which is capable of giving him the deadliest pain in the world.
The husband completed the story. He looked at her and told “When all the three men were given a glass of water, for the outside world, life was being even to them. But was it really even..? What went in their minds were never the same! And for them, what went in their mind was their life."
He paused and looked at her. She was looking keenly at him listening to his so called Philosophical lecture. But she had an unusual smile on her face; she just shook her head slowly widening her smile and hugged him. He could hear her mildly whisper in his ears...” Life is actually...What is happening in our mind!"
With a contented smile, he was enjoying his feather like fall from the narrow bridge….!
